Gold badges are free to those eligible. The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- You have Registered your Damboree Event prior to camping, or have agreed delayed registration with the Damboree Current Front Man. You will receive a unique ID as part of your registration, this is used to validate your Damboree Event and Gold eligibility.
- You are a new campsite, or upgrading to a campsite permit and a leader in the following sections:
- Beavers
- Cubs
- Scouts
- Explorers
- You are new Nights Away Permit Holder (Any) and a Squirrel Leader
- You are a new Nights Away Adviser and you validated your Mod25N at a Damboree event.
- A Permit applicant may also request a Gold Badge for their Permit Enabler, as defined by:
- The Permit Holder for a Damboree Event that enabled an Event Organiser to be successfully assessed for their own campsite permit.
- An existing Nights Away Adviser who fulfilled the role of mentor to the permit applicant to ensure they were supported in gaining their permit via their Damboree Event.
Damboree Gold Badges are a limited run, issued on an “honour” system to ensure that those who have them very much deserve them, which is why we have expanded the criteria slightly this year in support of our Squirrels colleagues.
Damboree believes that NAA’s should be involved in an event that is to be assessed for a permit right from the very off, and not just rock up with a tick sheet for a cuppa tea and a chat.
